Jean-Marc Daniel holds a PhD in Earth Sciences from Pierre and Marie Curie University. He worked at IFPEN from 1995 to 2015. His main areas of research were the geological characterisation of natural fracture networks and the numerical simulation of their hydromechanical behaviour. He joined Ifremer in 2015, where he held the post of Director of the Physical Resources and Deep Sea Ecosystems Department until December 2023. For three years, he served as Deputy Director in charge of scientific projects at ISblue, the first interdisciplinary university research school specialising in marine science and technology. Jean-Marc Daniel is Co-Director of the French Deep Sea Centre of Excellence, established in early 2026.
