Dr. Joanna Post is Head of the Ocean Observations, Data and Services Section at the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO and Director of the Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS). With extensive experience in international ocean and climate governance and coordination, she plays a key role in shaping the global ocean observing system as a critical infrastructure for the future to meet the needs of science and society. Her past experience includes science and ocean-policy lead at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change as well as an early career in science communication management. She holds a PhD in environmental biochemistry from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK
