Geneviève Pons was responsible for environment and climate in the cabinet of Jacques Delors during his final terms as President of the European Commission (1991–1995). She is an Honorary Director of the European Commission, where she held several management positions before becoming Director of the ILO's Legal Service in 2013 and then Director of the WWF European Policy Office in 2015. Since November 2017, she has led Europe Jacques Delors, the youngest member of the family of think tanks carrying Jacques Delors' European vision. She is a graduate of Sciences Po Paris, the Sorbonne and ENA.

Geneviève is regarded by POLITICO as one of the most influential women in Brussels. She chairs the Citizens' Engagement Group of the European Mission: Restore our Ocean and Waters. She co-chairs, with Pascal Lamy, the Antarctica2030 coalition, which aims to protect vast marine areas around Antarctica. She also co-chairs, with Sébastien Treyer (IDDRI), the Ifremer Stakeholder Committee, and is a member of the Ocean group of the Africa-Europe Foundation.

Geneviève Pons was tasked by Ambassador Olivier Poivre d'Arvor, Special Envoy of the President of the Republic, with organising an event on the European Pact for the Ocean at the Third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC 3) in Nice in June 2025, in collaboration with Catherine Chabaud.

She is also a member of the jury of the European Book Prize. Geneviève Pons is a Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur.
