COO and Deputy CEO of the Oceanographic Institute, Prince Albert I of Monaco Foundation

Cyril Gomez has served as Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Oceanographic Institute, Prince Albert I of Monaco Foundation, since November 2021. An engineer by training and a graduate of Sciences Po Paris with an Executive Master’s degree in Public Management, he has devoted the core of his career to the design, steering, and implementation of public policies related to sustainable development, ecological transition, and environmental protection.

For more than fifteen years, he held senior management positions within the Government of the Principality of Monaco, notably as Director of the Environment and subsequently as Director General of the Ministry of Public Works, the Environment and Urban Development, where he oversaw strategic policies in the fields of sustainable urban planning, mobility, infrastructure, and energy transition.

Long engaged on the international stage, he chaired two intergovernmental agreements dedicated to the conservation of cetaceans in the Mediterranean — ACCOBAMS and the Pelagos Sanctuary — and actively contributed to the work of numerous international environmental conventions. At the Oceanographic Institute, he now contributes to the strategic and operational governance of the Foundation and to the implementation of its international mission in support of ocean knowledge, protection, and sustainable governance.
