Yui Takeshita
Yui Takeshita is a scientist at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI), where he develops biogeochemical sensors for autonomous ocean platforms.
His early work in shallow coastal ecosystems such as coral reefs, kelp forests, and seagrass meadows examined the flow of carbon through ecosystem metabolism. He now focuses on building a global ocean observing network using autonomous profiling floats and underwater gliders, delivering the essential ocean variables needed to track acidification and carbon cycling from the open ocean to the coast.
Takeshita co-chairs the Biogeochemical-Argo (BGC-Argo) technology task team and sits on the BGC-Argo scientific steering team. He is also a member of the Underwater Glider User Group steering committee and the science advisory board of the Carbon to Sea Initiative.
