Focused On Nature
Prince Hussain Aga Khan is an award-winning conservation photographer and the founder and director of Focused On Nature, a non-profit organisation dedicated to protecting threatened and endangered species and their habitats.
A lifelong animal lover, Prince Hussain has been captivated by wild and marine life since childhood—keeping tropical fish from the age of five and developing an early passion for reptiles and amphibians. By fourteen, he had begun scuba diving, deepening a fascination with the natural world, both above and below the surface, that would grow into a lifelong commitment to conservation. On a trip to the Brazilian Amazon in 1996, he began photographing fauna and flora, sparking another enduring passion.
His photography captures intimate moments across an array of ecosystems, reflecting his deep connection to animals and the environments in which they live. Three decades of expeditions have led to an extraordinary archive spanning the globe and portraying countless, predominantly marine, species. In 2014, he established Focused On Nature to support international efforts in conservation, advocacy, and research aimed at protecting biodiversity and critical habitats.
Prince Hussain serves on the Board of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture and is a member of the Aga Khan Development Network's Environment and Climate Committee. He is an Ocean Elder; a board member of Mission Blue; a member of the Jane Goodall Legacy Foundation's Council for Hope, The Wild Dolphin Project's Scientific Advisory Board, and of the National Geographic Hubbard Council; a patron of the Manta Trust; an Ambassador for the Natural History Museum, London; one of Marevivo's Cavalieri Per Il Mare (Knights for the Sea); a Founding Member and patron of Mission Neptune; a partner of the Shark Conservation Fund.
