Jerome Aucan

Dr. Jérôme Aucan is the head of the Pacific Community Centre for Ocean Science (PCCOS) at the Pacific Community.

His work integrates observational oceanography, applied coastal science, and interdisciplinary collaboration, with a sustained focus on improving scientific understanding of processes that shape the vulnerability and resilience of coastal and island regions.

He has held faculty positions at the University of Hawai‘i, the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS), and a tenured researcher position with IRD (Institut de Recherche pour le Développement).

He also serves as a steering committee member of GOOS, a member of the IOC-WMO joint collaboration board and chair of the ITU-IOC-WMO joint task force on SMART cables.
