Vice-Admiral Quérat entered the École navale on 1 September 1990.

The first part of his career was devoted primarily to shipboard assignments, with some fifteen years aboard combat vessels involved in a variety of naval operations: intervention (Adriatic, Red Sea, Libya), counter-trafficking and counter-terrorism (Indian Ocean), state action at sea (Pacific), presence missions in West Africa, and numerous operational missions in the Mediterranean.

He subsequently held senior politico-military responsibilities at the inter-ministerial level, including: - Military cabinet of the Prime Minister (2016–2019) - Deputy Secretary-General for the Sea (2019) - Appointed in 2021 by General Thierry Burkhard, Chief of the Defence Staff, to head his cabinet at a time that encompassed the adaptation of the French defence posture in Africa, the war in Ukraine, the preparation of the Military Programming Law, and the transformation of the Armed Forces headquarters.

He is an Officer of the Légion d'Honneur, a Commander of the Ordre national du Mérite, and the holder of the Croix de la Valeur Militaire with bronze star.
