Dr. Guillaume Liniger is a biogeochemical oceanographer passionate about understanding how our changing climate is altering the Southern Ocean, one of Earth's most powerful natural carbon sinks. Using robotic floats, satellites, and artificial intelligence, he investigates how physical and biological processes interact to shape Southern Ocean ecosystems, from the tiny phytoplankton that form the base of the marine food web to the broader cycles of nutrients and productivity that sustain ocean life. Originally from France, he completed his PhD in Australia at the University of Tasmania and is currently based at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) in California, where he develops new tools to monitor changes in polar ecosystems in near real-time.
