Professor, Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco
Professor of Geomorphology in Rabat, resident member of the Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco, agrégé in Geography from Aix-en-Provence in 1971, and holder of a State Doctorate in Geomorphology from La Sorbonne in 1987. He holds the UNESCO–Gas Natural Chair in Environmental Management and Sustainable Development. His research covers two main fields: land degradation and soil and water conservation, and coastal dynamics. He has supervised numerous research projects and collaborated on several Moroccan and European programmes, including the Medchange, Climed, and DESIRE projects. He has also produced studies on coastal zones, natural resources, and climate change on behalf of a range of institutions, including the Ministry of Territorial Planning, the HDR50, the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE), the High Commission for Planning, the Department of the Environment, and IRES.
